S 3 credits This senior level course will explore current trends affecting those in the funeral service profession. The course will examine local, regional, state, and national business, management, legal and regulatory issues affecting strategy and decision making in an active funeral practice. By discussion and review of current professional journals and publications, students will be made aware of current issues of importance to the profession. Through classroom discussion with fellow students and active funeral service practitioners, students will be prepared to develop plans and alternate strategies for implementation of this information in daily work situations. Prerequisites: FS 293, BA 200 or BA 303, and junior standing.
