Individualized Studies (A.A.)
The Individualized Studies Program provides students with the freedom to explore subjects and issues of particular interest to them in the Humanities, the Social Sciences, and Mathematics or Science. Students receive a firm grounding in the classic disciplines and choose two areas of concentration for focused study. The program’s many electives allow students to explore a variety of intellectual interests and to sample coursework in professional fields (e.g. Business, Criminal Justice, Design, Fashion Merchandising). The flexibility of the Individualized Studies program also enables it to serve as a degree completion program for Associate degree students who have discovered their interests do not lie in the program in which they began their studies or for students who have determined they cannot continue their baccalaureate studies into the junior and senior years.
Career or Advanced Study Options:
Although there is no specific professional preparation in Individualized Studies, the program’s many electives permit students to obtain knowledge in a variety of professional fields. Indeed, it is possible for one of the student’s four course concentrations to consist of focused professional study. Students may, therefore present themselves to employers as being knowledgeable in a career field.
